Thanks. I'm kind of in a weird limbo right now. I pretty much "have" a new job, but the background check part of it all is taking FOREVER.

I'm so glad you have a new job, and that it sounds like something you would actually enjoy. That's always the hardest part.

Yes, this stuff takes forever. I actually found out about this job and got my resume sent off in December. It wasn't until January that I got an interview, and then it was a three-month period during which I eventually had two more interviews until I got the final word. Yeah - forever!!!

It's a challenge, something very new for me. I'm ready for it!

Yay yay yay yay!!!

[and it occurs to me that while this isn't as directly green as writing for a wind power company, it's paperless and efficiency-oriented so it's green too! as a side bonus - it is well into the awesome range without that]

So happy and excited for you!!!

Woohoo! Glad I could finally post this! It may not be directly green, but it is critical in helping people receive proper medical care, which is pretty awesome. It should also eliminate some of the frustration that hospital staff have to deal with, which is even more awesome.

Thanks, babe! ;-)

Insanely busy with work, kids, other family committments. Including actually keeping a stable relationship with a *gasp* normal man for once. :D

How about you? Other than the job front & sculpture going fantastically well...how goes your world?

that's awesome!
LOL, so you'll be basically writing the copy that I would probably design into a book, that is kind of hilarious XD
Healthcare is a really interesting industry - my company is being pretty innovating changing the whole chain of care system - it'd be interesting if some of your work gets filtered into our hospital and offices!
Your company is fairly close in proximity, so it's not unbelievable that that would happen.

When I got my job it was half the driving distance of any of my old jobs too - you have NO IDEA how nice that is going to be for you!

Congrats!! I'm glad you finally got something that aligns with what you love doing!!!

Ah, thanks so much, C! It has been a long effing time coming! I'm pretty much writing user manual sort of stuff, and I asked if there was going to be any graphic work with it, and got a "Nah...not really," which is cool, but I wouldn't have minded if they'd dumped some in my lap. It would be more cool stuff to learn.

Your hospital could very well end up using the stuff we are working on. It's something that a lot of medical facilities could find extremely useful. I don't know how much about it I can say right now, but it does mapping for different types of drug interactions as part of it.

Yes, I am TOTALLY aware of the difference the drive will be, because, crazily, the new place is right back near where I worked a few years ago. It's literally a block away from where I used to work, so I've done that same drive for years already. It is going to be AWESOME having a shorter drive! :D Thanks again!

Well I'll be damned if it's not about time. I KNEW you had something good coming your way with all the strengths you have and all the hard work you were putting into it. This is so cool and I'm stoked to hearing more about the new job as you get acquainted with it and hearing about what you're able to do and accomplish with your extra free time. How long will your drive to work be now? Anyway, again, congratulations. I hope you enjoy the hell out of your week off and live it up a bit 'cause you certainly deserve it.

It IS about time! I agree! :D I've been leaning into this "project" for quite some time, and it has now finally borne fruit, you know? Although technical writing isn't quite like building sculpture or writing short stories, it is still work I enjoy, and the stuff I'll be writing about has the potential to make some big changes in the medical field, meaning that a lot of individuals could get better and more accurate care as a result. That's a really cool thing to be able to say about your job, you know? My work could be part of something that helps people who are sick or hurt. Good stuff, man. Good stuff ( ... )

That it awesome. Work you can be proud of is always a good thing. And the writing can always lead to other things you might find more enjoyable in the future. It should be good experience.

25-30 minutes still sounds like a long drive for work to me, but it's a hell of a lot better than an hour. That must feel beautiful.

Yeah, I'm still not checking up on LJ as much as I'd like, but I'm slowly getting there.

Except for one retail job that I had in high school, work has always involved 30 or more minutes in the car. Half an hour is the short end of things. It's a real good deal. Without traffic it would only take about 20 minutes. It's physically not that far. Plus, my doctor and my dentist are located very close as well, making those sorts of visits easy, and my folks, whom I visit on Mondays, live north of there, so my drive time to them has been shortened from about an hour and 20 minutes to about 30 or 40. Pretty sweet!

And this: "And the writing can always lead to other things you might find more enjoyable in the future."

You are right on the money, homey. THIS is another big part of why I'm happy about this job. More writing is more writing, and the practice can't help but improve my skills.
