DO you ever make kinetic sculptures? There's one in NY I love. Yeah, you do. I checked these tags. Awesome! I wish I could figure out how to do something like that that would sound... Chinese dulcimer like.
Ha - yeah, I'm *kind of* into making kinetic sculpture! Just a little ;-).
So what's this one in New York? Where is it? Who built it? Do you have pictures? I should put up some photos of two that I have visited in Indiana. The one at the Indianapolis Children's Museum is the one that started me off on this whole thing. I still hope to one day build something as fantastic as that one - even more crazy, really.
I hope to include sound elements in my future sculptures. If you like that sort of thing, there's a guy, Andrew Smith, who has made some sculptures with considerable sound elements. I like his "Bearing See" sculpture. His site is andrewsmithart.com.
Excellent! I like that you show the before and after, and aren't too ashamed of the work you've done that is less than satisfactory to show the whole process and how you've improved. Very cool. How far away is this family, by the way? Just curious.
They live out on the west coast, so a considerable distance, especially considering that this is going to be kind of large. It may cost me more to ship it than it did to buy all the steel to build it!
Yeah, someday I may wish I hadn't posted those crappy photos, but someday I'll be doing such quality work that it won't bother me anymore I figure. We all come from a place of ignorance or inexperience with things, and this is just me figuring it out. I'm already past what I was a month ago, even if I'm not perfect. Sure can't wait to get *really* good at this stuff and start posting some really cool progress.
Thanks! I got a little more time on it this past weekend. Pics taken but not downloaded to computer yet. Hopefully there will be an update this week on the ol' LJ. It's not a big deal, but, well, I sorta didn't exactly ruin anything, so - woot!
