In the last few days I've been hit by a desire to change my image drastically. I've changed and need to see that when I look in the mirror. Makeup takes too much work, and I got rid of all the torn jeans I had during the move so grunge's out too. So, yeah, I'm thinking about dyeing my hair a normal color only not for me. I know I can't dye it ( Read more... )

I'd really vote against black- you'll look like a little goth-let if it goes well.
A friend of mine wound up with a color we could only describe as "mud brown" when trying to go too dark.

Have you thought about getting some highlights?
or having it professionally lightened to a more strawberry blond?

Maybe try having it relaxed or straightened?

I've tried highlights before, blond highlights come out orange and red ones are overpowered by the natural ones. My natural color goes to strawberry blond in the summer or when I'm out in the sun a lot and that's not what I'm looking for.

Tho the relaxing/straightening is something I haven't thought about.

For the love of all gods, *please* treat yourself to a professional cut or dye job, if you go for that, especially with your hair color! Most over the counter dyes were made for light browns who wanna go blond. Case in point- OTC Latina girls who wind up with what I call those "peanut butter" streaks. Yuck. ("Born blonde" ain't gonna do on that hair, chicka!)

The only thing worse than hair ennui is hair disaster!!!

If you got a makeover at, say clinique, you'd look like you, but a more polished you- they wouldn't let you leave the chair looking like a streetwalker, esp if you told them you're not usually one for makeup! Once we found colors and textures that worked for you, I could find some good brands at target that would do about the same job. :)

On a good face day I just use a little concealer, powder and a hint of blush and eyeshadow. Some might say it's a lot of work to look like I don't wear any makeup, but even david noticed I look more "put-together" when I do it.
