In 'safe hands'? I think the two J's have some sort of delusions of grandeur. Yes we have them to thank for bringing 'Merlin' to our screens in the first place. But in respect to the actual writing of the series, it has been poorly executed. Even Starz 'Camelot' which only lasted 1 series had their version of Morgana better written and more fleshed out than 'Merlin's'.

I literally could not imagine some of the actors coming back to do the movies. I truly believe that ship has sailed.

-reading the article again and again-

Er.... Does this mean that Capps and Murphy are out for good and that Shine/Kudos/Freemantle hold the rights for any Merlin spin-off? Eh? Does this mean that the two people responsible for the horror that series 5 has been are OUT and if, IF, there will ever be any other Merlin thing, they will have nothing to do with it?? Please tell me that I've read this correctly! Please! I'll start dancing all over my flat!!! The witches are gone, the future of Merlin is off their hands and if, IF, Shine/Kudos/Freemantle hire a better production/scriptwriting team, the main actors MAY return for some spin-off film or something! What did Bradley say? "If the scripts are good". Give the man a good script, people!!! Let's even have a modern time re-telling, imagine Colin and Bradley in modern times with apt scripts! We'll die!!!

Uh... yeah... I'm overreacting, I know. And dreaming. :P

The 2Js want to start their own production company? They are just king of self-flattering. They never realize that they are not that piece of material, seems. Not to mention they are such bad producers. Moreover, given the overall bad economy all over the world, they want to start a company? That must be a huge joke. That proves these 2 have no brains. And I won't have interest to watch any show produced by their company.

Yes, I understood the same thing and yes Bradley did say if the writing is good and Colin said at SDCC that if he is to play another whatever of Merlin, he would but not a Wizard of different description ( Q&A about typecasting). So there is every possibility, but it may be couple of years before that come to pass and they may be otherwise occupide.

Well, I'll give a heads up that this is comment could be considered a Spoiler, so SPOILER ALERT though but the interview is public anyway.

Colin just confirmed the end of the show in surprising detail, leaving no doubt whatsoever as to the power of fate. So I don't know how they would do a movie. I for one have no inclination to spend Christmas watching the show (will see it later), because why would you want to be put through the emotional wringer like that during a holiday with your family. Christmas is stressful enough! As for the co-creators, I'm kind of pissed off about the cat-and-mouse game they played with viewers over the past six months, with that ridiculous "announcement on midnight". There was the using of the fans as well. saying that the show might go on if the ratings were strong, so we've all been agonizing over the numbers when in fact they knew they were wrapping things up. There was a lot of manipulation from them. But in the end, I loved the show, so I guess I went along with it all willingly.

Knowing what Kudos managed to do with the last two series of Spook, I wouldn't be optimistic about them handling such a project.

IMO, Murphy and Capps now want to get the most from all they have created during those years. They have developed/acquired skills in GGI for example, they're going to run a business for themselves instead of Shine.

Erm, yeah, Spooks did mess up in its final series, didn't it. The way they handled Lucas North, terrible. But still, Spooks vs Merlin, Shine-under-C/M vs Kudos, I think any Merlin spin-off will be somewhat better. Wishful thinking of course.

Yes Spooks totally messed up the last 2 series. (and I so agree about Lucas North!)
More recently, Kudos also produced another... thing, it's Hunted and it was really bad.
Well, they are also behind The Hour, which I quite like, so I guess that's everything is possible about a spin-off.
