It really does mean the end of Merlin, doesn't it? :(

Well, for now it's 'just a pilot' and it isn't clear if it will be picked up for a full series. But yeah, if that should happen it'd probably mean that Gwaine would be away a lot in a hypothetical S6.

That's fantastic news for Eoin. Fingers crossed the pilot gets picked up.

In the meantime, I'll just go sit in a corner and be in denial over the fact that either Gwaine doesn't make it past the finale or the show is really, truly over.

It's really amazing for him! :D

Especially - if I remember correctly - since he was also in talks/auditioned/filmed a pilot for a role in BBC America's Copper last year (which has just been renewed for a 2nd season) but the role went to another Irish actor instead.

From what I know - if he HAD got that part then he wouldn't have returned for this series of Merlin at all (presumably they would've had him killed off between seasons). As he said in his post the other week, he was very undecided about coming back at all - the majority of the actors playing the knights feel like it monopolises too much of their time but doesn't give them enough to do. Which I think is fair enough tbh!

Even if there had been a s6, Eoin wouldn't have been in it.

From what I understand, feeling like the show offers them no more is the main reason why most of the actors didn't really want to do a s6.

This is awesome! Im so happy for him. I wonder if he will have to use an American accent. I personally want him to use his own irish accent. It sounds like he will be playing the lead part. I hope it gets picked up. I wonder what this will mean for Merlin then?

For now it's 'just a pilot', so we'll really have to wait and see whether the show'll be picked up. But then chances for a sixth series have been rather slim at best anyway...

And if push came to shove Gwaine could always leave Camelot for an adventure and be away for a while.

I'm very pleased for him! Although, if Merlin actually goes on for sixth series (doubtful) and this show is picked up and Gwaine doesn't return (or only shows up in a few eps), Merlin won't be the same for me. Oh well...:/

Since it doesn't seem like there's going to be a sixth series I hope for him (and us) 'After Hours' gets picked up for a full season. :D

Meanwhile I'll just sit here and wait/hope for news on new roles for Bradley and Colin surfacing... *twiddles thumbs*

Oh yes, I wouldn't at all mind watching him in an entirely new show! :D

Well, we all know Colin loves the theatre, but I really hope he'll do movies/shows too, so I'll actually have a chance to see him.

I don't watch medical dramas but I'd definitely give Eoin's show a try. McDreamy WHO? ;P

In reverse I hope Bradley will do a play, I'd love to see him on stage! Otherwise I'm hoping for good roles in TV or film for both of them. Preferably TV at first because that's usually much faster available than a movie (it still feels like we've been waiting decades for Island and Parked to be released).

Well done Eoin! That's great news for him. I wish I liked medical dramas but the only one I've ever been able to watch is "House".

With some of the cast getting other jobs I've lost all hope of S6 now :( though if Colin and Bradley get juicy new roles I won't mind quite so much!
