"-and we're not working around their shortcomings."
No, it's pretty much the opposite, isn't it.
I'm not entirely sure I welcome more than five seasons. Granted, S4 was better than S3 (IMO) but maybe, if they can make a great S5, they should just be happy with it. TV-shows have to end at some point anyway and it would be nice if they did it when they're still good.
Sorry, I messed up the html and had to delete my comment.
I agree with everything you've written. As much as I love Merlin -sometimes in an unhealthy way XD- I don't want to show to become half filler episodes and the rest cliffhangers between Morgana taking over Camelot and Arthur trying to find his faith again. I think it's time to move on and most importantly to tie the knots.
Agreed. I think S4, despite it's shortcomings and the badly wrapped up finale, was actually better than the previous season. And I'd also prefer if they stopped on this level, because if they started making season with even less or no concept that'd seriously ruin the quality and put a bad taste in our mouth.
Like, I still think the first 13 episodes of glee are lovely but now I can't even watch THOSE because the rest of the show infuriates me so much with it's stupidity.
Oh what the hell, if i said "I only want 5s" i would be a freaking bad stuck up liar, I would love more seasons and not for the sake of the story, its so jumbled up I lost track of it since S2 - what I care is about the cast and as long as I see the chemistry and their acting - I won't get tired of it, I think Merlin will stop once the viewership starts going downwards & Colin/Bradley decide to break the contract - but unless this happens, ill be watching it.
I personally felt like S4 was a repeat of the best season so far, which was S3, and if they can't keep the excitement up for 5+ series then maybe it's time to wrap it up - when it's doing great and still is appealing.
Also, and this will probably sound odd...I really would like to see Colin and Bradley working in other projects too. With 'Merlin' taking up so much of their time that seems improbable.

Yup! I'm always happy to hear them say that :)
ETA: And yay for more Dale! One of the things I love most about the show is its gorgeous cinematography and he plays a huge part in that.
