Episode 12 of Atlantis got the Strictly Come Dancing finale sandwich treatment, it aired between the two last live shows of the dancing competition, while ITV aired Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Wow, a big boost. I barely remember the episode. Funny, there's something I like and remember even in the worst Merlin episodes, but I'm hard pressed to recall anything in the entire run of Atlantis other than shirtless Jason. Other than the Medusa episode.

Maybe due to the Strictly sandwich (and lack of alternatives) people just kept their TVs running?

so the key to lifting ratings is just to air the show when nothing else is on then?
They've certainly got their strategy all worked out "of course its worth commissioning a second season - just look at those figures!!!"

I was really hopeful that the last episode actually might come to something. Alas, I was wrong again. I was actually shocked how poor the story was. Nothing gripping there at all. And Jason and Ariadne leave me totally cold!
I cannot believe they are getting another season.
