Merlin S5 | VineFX special effects video + Merlin S1-5 Complete Box Set photos

Is a Federal Holiday (and a sunny day on top of that) enough of an excuse for me to upload this video to YT on October 3rd and totally forgetting to post it after it had finished processing? Probably not. :P Anyway, here is a Merlin S5 video, showing some of the 'CGI enhancements' VineFX added to scenes after they'd been shot.

Oh, that CGI vid was a very interesting watch! Thank you for uploading.
I particularly had to smile a bit at Aithusa's real look. :)

The real Aithusa looks like a cross between 'blue mealworm' and 'unicorn'. :P

Just watched that. Totally amazing. You just never know these days whether what you see is real or not.
Thanks for posting. Loved it.

I knew about the lack of Alpes-esque mountains in Wales but still found it interesting to see how much 'landscape stuff' they added in outdoor shots.

Aww, I guess they don't have any more extra footage? :(

But I really NEED a complete box...now I feel like bying it, when I'm in London....
Btw, I didn't get an answer from the German provider about what will be on the DVDs. :(

I'm 100% sure they have more extra footage. I don't believe for a second that after five years of filming 8 months each year there's nothing else apart from what we've seen so far. I bet they have tons of unseen material rotting away on some plumb forgotten hard drives. :(

IMO they just don't care about it anymore. It would take time (and maybe some money) to go through everything, edit stuff and decide what to release. But why should they bother if people are going to buy the box sans new footage anyway?

They just don't realise that they would for sure sell a hell of a lot more boxes had they added new stuff. They never really understood how to make more money with the show (just imagine Merlin audio books read by cast members or other merchandising products *grabby hands*).

yeah, I guess you're right... but no one wants to work on more extras... *sighs*

I would have loved to see more...I miss Merlin so much. :(
And yeah, more merchandise would have been awesome, too.

(I really hope Colin does an audiobook someday. *_*)

So.Much.THIS! ^ *ugh*

About the only good thing about this new box set is that the covers match better and they don't take up as much room, but neither of those are things that would entice me to buy the complete set when I already have four out of five seasons. Had there been extras - more outtakes, behind the scenes stuff, deleted scenes etc. I would HAPPILY have bought it. Stupid PTBs. (>.<)

Thank you for posting these. The blue sausage 'snake' attacking Rupert is fun!
I love that they have returned to the 'book' style covers on the DVDs and although like many fans, I have already bought the set season by season, I notice the new box set seems to take up a lot less room on the shelf! I liked the BBC DVDs because they listed episodes and the full cast and crew whereas the Freemantle ones listed nothing on the packaging. It is odd that they have not added extra out takes to sell them to fans. We never did get to see Bradley's horse collapsing under him .... even Colin thought that would be in the DVD!
