That's a steep falloff to below the lowest rating Merlin ever had. 3 weeks isn't enough to judge, but it's not a good sign.

I've watched (Sorry, shallow. They got me with that shirtless Jason pic), and the only thing that grabs me is all the pretty Jack Donnelly. He has an intensely lickable body but neither he nor anyone else has the acting chops to carry the Merlin-esque horrible writing. Maybe Mark Addy does, but his Hercules character could become rather tiresome.

There is absolutely nothing about it that isn't a ripoff of Merlin, except the plot device that Jason is from our present - the only interesting and surprising thing about the show, which the writers have already completely tossed away.

Merlin was carried 98% by Colin Morgan and his chemistry with Bradley James. (The other 2% were Anthony Head and Richard Wilson). Strange that the only Merlin element they didn't mine was the one that was critical. I don't think they understand that.

Ah, I wondered. This was impression. Thanks for watching and reporting and saving me the trouble. Not that I could watch anything the J's do ever again. I'm still broken hearted.

I really can't say I'm surprised. And I strongly suspect the Final figure for Episode 3 won't even break 6m.

I have watched the last 3 eps on iPlayer the day after out of curiosity. Although I was obviously unhappy to see Merlin end, and didn't have a lot of faith in the Julians, I'm always on the lookout for a good new show so I gave it a fair go.

But, egads, it's so dull and repetitive without an ounce of chemistry between any of the actors. And some of the performances are so wooden that it's laughable. Even the sets and the cinematography suffer; it's so CGI'ed that there's no depth to the settings. No wonder viewers are dropping like flies.

I miss the more complex twists and turns in the Atlantis plots - as in Merlin eg The Wicked Day where the unexpected happens. Looking at the Merlin episodes, Jake Mitchie and Julian Jones co wrote many of the more complex episodes and so far they are not on the credits for Atlantis. However, Alice Troughton is, I understand, directing the next block and she 'got' the emotional links in Merlin so I am hoping for an emotional sea change next week and Pythagoras being given a lot more to do than just being the aide memoire for Jason and the audience!

I'm not sure I'd label anything in Merlin "complex" except the acting, which elevated horrendously bad scripts to something special. The writing on Atlantis is roughly the same quality, but there are no actors of Merlin caliber, and so the episodes go flat.

In Wicked Day, Uther died because Anthony Head wanted off the show, not because the writers were trying to be unexpected.
