That's odd. They don't usually show football on BBC1 (or BBC2) on Sundays so I wonder if it's to do with Irish TV and it's Gaelic football?

I don't know if BBC and RTÉ would even try to schedule it so the show'd air in UK and Ireland at the same time? It's all very odd and doesn't make much sense. My first thought at reading about football was just that somehow Bradley's favourite sport stands in the way of Colin's show. xP *adjusts tinhat*

Though it makes me laugh a bit that they're having trouble with the 90mins format of the episodes. Germany is very fond of 90mins shows (we're a country that produces many crime shows or TV films of 90mins length) and none of our TV stations would have particular trouble to fit in 3 eps of any show. But it's obviously a bit unusual for British productions to be 'that long', hence the scheduling problems. Surely they did know in advance about those 90mins though, right? At least I don't think they'd order 3 episodes of a show and leave it to the production companies/whoever else to decide on the length.

If Colin doesn't hate football already he probably does now :)

I just googled Gaelic football and it seems the All-Ireland Championship is currently going on and it looks like the matches are played on Sundays - the semi finals are this Sunday and on 1st September with the final on 22nd September. It looks like the matches are shown on RTE and BBC Northern Ireland. But you would think they would've known about the football fixtures before mentioning possible airing dates?

Also Shelock has 90 minute episodes and they're on the 3rd series of that so it has been done before :p

Anyway I imagine they will change the DVD release date when they've sorted this out (the BBC shop still had the release as the 25th August). Can't wait to see when it's eventually sorted :)

I'm sure I've seen other BBC shows that have been 90 minutes, seems very odd

There are other 90mins shows (like Sherlock f.e. or movies etc.) but it's not common format for a serial. Still, I don't really understand what all the fuss is about.
But hey, what do I know, here programme information is released 4-6 weeks prior to broadcast dates, so I never quite understood the scheduling politics/difficulties of UK TV stations. :P

It just seems to me that the BBC is not showing a whole lot of faith in this series. There's only 3 that have been made, and only 6 books to choose from (no. 6 is winging it's way towards me at this minute apparently!), so I don't know the likelihood of making a 2nd series.
Coupled with some of the other tweets, I'm a bit worried!

They couldn't say much, but it seemed to be something to do with Match of the Day. But that's on a Saturday night not a Sunday. Maybe they're trying to go for a Saturday night slot?

I guess there's mainly confustion about this because of the DVD release date. If that was further in the future or yet tbc we'd only be up to the usual level of impatience by now. :P But since the Beeb usually doesn't release a show on DVD that didn't air on TV first everyone keeps wondering how scheduling's supposed to work with a DVD release date September 9th.

Their programme schedule is a bit packed at the moment. They've got 'What Remains', 'New Tricks', Celebrity MasterChef, comedy night on Fridays... all those programmes are made of many episodes, so it seems quite difficult to find room for a three-part 90' drama.

I really don't understand the way things work in that particular area on BBC.

Don't get too excited about the standard of the show. It's not the best quality writing I've ever heard, and the plot seemed rather cliched. But I think the cast, setting and overall story arc will carry it through the three episodes.
