No way would I touch anything they do ever again. I'll even swear to it. That the BBC is investing in them again, after the Merlin backlash and disaster that was a series 5, shows distinct lack of nouse on their part. Do they not want women in their TV shows? Even if it had hoards of shirtless men flirting with each other, it should come with an advance warning.
Do Capps/Murphy and the BBC not realise Merlin only lasted as long as it did due to the cast? It certainly wasn't down to the scripts/plotlines etc.
I feel sorry for their new cast as they'll no doubt be compared (perhaps unfavourably) to the Merlin cast, not to mention, on the .00000000000000000000001% chance they manage to get lucky enough again with casting the right people, the show will likely sink after 1 series.
Does anyone know generally how far in advance of filming or pre-production a cast gets announced?
I just noticed. In their wisdom (snickers) they named the show Atlantis, not Jason. I guess they learned from their Merlin mistake and generalized the premise, not kept it under a titular character. That way, not only Jason but every character can remain badly written, since it's not about characters anyway, it's about *Atlantis*, the place, the city. And a city that will flood eventually (as another mentioned already) anyway. Wow. How *clever*! "They didn't fail, they were bound to drown."
