Merlin actors Anthony Head and Katie McGrath attended the show (held at the Dorchester on September 7, 2009 in London) and accepted the award on behalf of the BBC and Shine Productions.

Merlin won best drama but Anthony Head, who plays Uther Pendragon, wasn't expecting it: "We were stuck in the corner of the room so we thought we had no chance.

Anthony said to get ready for an even better series next time: "We're three-quarters of the way through filming. Expect much more of everything. It's more ambitious, the scripts are bigger, the CGI is bigger. It's huge, it's just so cool."
