AND THE WINNER IS...
AKA, A FILMS OF 2011 FICATHON
HEY, GUYS, HEY. so the reasons behind the birth of this ficathon are pretty simple. as y'all know, most film fandoms are cursed with a limited lifespan and a dearth of fic-even the awards season darlings (from whence this ficathon gets its name, obviously) and the ones the critics (and tumblr) fall in love with over the course of the year. and i know some of you guys have deep, dark yearnings for fic for these movies that hasn't had the chance to exist because there's barely a fandom and you've already tried forcing everyone around you to write you some fanfiction (haha, guilty on all counts). maybe it's worked. maybe it hasn't. WORRY NOT. this ficathon exists now, for you!

the acceptable films: the movie in question has to have come out in the year 2011 (though films that came out in limited release before and have only been widely distributed this year also count). movies that have come out in 2012 are fair game as well, but as it's barely been a week into the new year, i have no idea what you'd prompt. with respect to franchises that have had sequels/tie-in movies out in the past year (i.e. ritchie's sherlock holmes, harry potter, marvel movieverse), i'm gonna put my foot down and say no, mainly because this ficathon is, by and large, meant to generate fic-related activity in film fandoms that don't typically get a lot of action. think yuletide madness for movies that came out in 2011. rpf for the casts of any of the films that qualify is also cool beans in my book. for a good list of fandom ideas, look here.

how to prompt: fandom, pairing/character(s), prompt. prompts can range from anything between a picture or a line from a poem to a song or a five things fic or a super detailed AU scenario. WHEN I SAY ANYTHING I MEAN ANYTHING.

a note on filling format: the fact that lj comments don't have subject lines anymore is a bit of a bummer, especially for things like these, so the only caveat i have for posting fills to prompts is that you, the writer, put the title of the fic (if there is one), pairing (if there is one), fandom, and rating + any potential triggers in bold at the beginning of your comment. yeah, it's a hassle, but it'll have to do because i don't think lj's going to be sorting out its layout issues anytime soon. hopefully this doesn't discourage any of you from participating!

IN CLOSING: PROMPT FIC. WRITE FIC. PLAY NICE. BE MERRY.

fandom, ily, fantastic elastic, #meme, words words words, #ficathon
