Back to the game, the MoD/FCO are in a flap after that stunt. It takes a lot of pull (i.e. 3 points of credit rating) to have the mess cleaned up and blamed on foreign anarchists.
There is a report in the Times the next day of two Polish emigrés being chased by a police constable in St James' Park. They attempted to wade across the lake and when the realised that they weren't going to get away, shot themselves shouting "Za Ojczyzn!" Shortly before, only prompt action by Embassy staff had prevented the destruction of the building by a bomb.
The German ambassador Dr Leopold von Hoesch was received at the FCO to make strong protests. Security on the German embassy has been stepped up. The Polish foreign minister, Józef Beck, had denounced these events as being the work of a small group of radical anarchist elements in the country seeking to upset the recent non-agression pact with Germany.
