Yawara! A fashionable judo girl

seangaffney pointed out to me that Animeigo is releasing a boxset of season 1. I want to take a moment to pimp this to my flist because they're promoting the series by offering a free disc 1 ($5 S&H for up to 3 discs shipped to you). I'd really encourage you guys who are anime curious (danakate) or like sports anime (thistle_chaser) to explore this disc 1 offer. Thistle especially ( Read more... )

I was pretty excited when I saw this news a couple days ago. I've wanted to watch more episodes of Yawara than the first 30-something episodes (I think) and the movie that I managed to get my hands on back in the 20th century. I don't have the tapes anymore. I hope more box sets will be coming soon. Nevertheless, I'll probably wait until the price drops before I get any.

Awww, that looks like a fun series! I need to somehow make time to get back to watching anime -- I haven't watched a single ep in a year or more. :/ I suck at multitasking.

Watch an episode of anime when you're feeling blah about crafting or campaigning. That's what I do. (Well, not so much watch anime but find something completely brainless and *different* to do than what I "should" be doing...) And Yawara is a wonderful choice for just such a role! Honest! This series isn't nearly as bad about the 6-episode tennis match at Prince of Tennis was (there simply isn't the time for that since it's all leading up to the Olympics).

*rolls* You're doing a good job of convincing me! And let me tell you how much I hate that there's a "should" in FFXI...

I know what you mean. So many little tasks to accomplish so that you can do bigger, funner things :/

I've got Volume 1 of the manga, and the anime seems to follow it quite closely. Want, want, want.

Like dr_sizer I've only seen the first 30 or so episodes and some of the specials. I'm really looking forward to being able to get my hands on a complete collection of the series (eventually). I really hope the first boxset sells well and they keep going!
