Hardcore Till I Die

Feb 02, 2006 13:51

Please can everyone be aware of my intentions when posting about and attending this forthcoming hardcore night: this isn't meant to be an ironic statement of any sort, I am merely professing a genuine love for this music. Yes, it suffers from ADD, has none of the subtlety or intricacy of much great electronic music, but it is undeniably enjoyable ( Read more... )

I will come Gaz, uni permitting, and maybe go visit someone else in the north at the same time. I've never been to Birmingham! My mum says it's one of the worst places she's ever been to, ho ho. I think I come quite close to reading classic literature all the time.

I've seen you reading the "weekend" section of the Guardian many a time, which doesn't quite consitute classic literature. But good, very glad you're coming!

And let us remember, in fifty years time happy hardcore WILL be classic music.

That statement even seems odd to me, but that doesn't stop it being true!

Hmm, some happy hardcore will. I would recommend to beginners purchasing The Anthems 1 and 2, both compiled and mixed by Slipmat, and each featuring 40 tunes which are damned near essential. Volume 1 covers 92-97, whilst volume 2 covers 88-92.

Let's face it, no-one reads classic literature all the time, or only watches arthouse cinema. Why should music be any different?

Just so you know, I will be quoting you on this the next time you sneer at me for listening to Girls Aloud or watching The OC. FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT TO TRASH!

I've got another pair of Rob's speakers (these ones actually make noise) and the entire Infernal Affairs trilogy (we can watch the first one dubbed into English, just for the comedy value) and thus hurrah. I keep forgetting I'm supposed to be going out tonight. You coming? Or I might stay at home and find some classic literature to read.

I never sneer at people for watching/listening to trash, as I'm not a snob. I do point out when something is trash though (trust me, I can take it as well as give it - I've received much ridicule since suggesting this night to people!)
Do you have the first Infernal Affairs subtitled? Very much looking forward to this film-festival! I am indeed coming out tonight, and will be coming home first to get ready, see you there!
