Someone I didn't know in another department called me this morning to ask for some information. When I was in the middle of explaining stuff she started saying something else into the phone, so I asked, "pardon?", because I didn't understand what this had to do with our conversation, and suddenly I realised she was talking to someone on her end - ( Read more... )

You could had hung up or put her on hold.
Some people think they could multi task but they can't

Hanging up isn't really a professional thing to do, plus she'd have probably called back and been really annoyed - I didn't want to end up having a rant at her on the phone in front of my manager, despite the bad way she handled it.

I don't even know how to put people on hold...
