Twelfth Dance

[When the sphere turns on, Rukia is holding one of the transporter devices found on the station. She frowns in concentration, obviously in deep thought.]

How does... it work? If it is some form of teleport device, there must be a way to activate it. Even then, it is difficult to tell if it would take someone as far as another ship. I do not know ( Read more... )

[he winces slightly, that headache lingering a bit] I don't suppose you could think a little softer, could you?

["Blimey, what the hell was that just now? I could really go for banana or a cuppa. Who's crying?"]

[She frowns slightly, unsure what to make of his question.] What are you talking about?

[That does not make sense. It should not matter if I 'think' loudly... What? I did not see him say that. ...What is going on...?!]

I mean, your thoughts on how you can't operate the technology. Thankfully, I think I know what to do with those. Hold on a mo'.

["Now where did I put that--" Unfortunately, that thought is cut off when he turns off his Sphere.

But! He returns a few minutes later, grinning and holding his own black transporter device.]

Still there?

[Her eyes widen slightly.] What...?

[He was able to hear that? But-]

[Her surprise has faded by the time he returns, calm and to the point.]

Yes. Do you know how to use the device?

[taps his sphere, causing the transmission to shake] I've got one, too! Have you attached it to your sphere yet?

[We're finally gonna make it off this ship! And I can help!]

No, I have not. I do not know how they are used.

[It is too early to grow excited. I must focus on the task at hand before giving in to such things.]

See how it's sort of hollow? It slots onto your sphere. And I'm guessing it works sort of...like... [presses a button on his, and a blue light starts to glow around him] Yeah! I did--

--it. [the light fades out, the sphere buzzing at him. Oliver's face falls] Damn. I thought I had it!

[what did I do wrong? was that not the right button, or does this not work after all? I hope it's not that...]

Are you certain you are using it correctly?

[It is possible they do not work as previously thought. If that is the case... An alternate way will be needed.]

I've been wondering the same thing since we found 'em. I kept one, too. Maybe we should give it a shot? I mean, really... space is collapsing all around us anyway.

Though... I might have another way. You remember that big robot of mine in the hangar bay?

We must be certain of how to use them, as well as find a way to disable the shield.

Yes. Could it be used in this situation?

I can definitely try to get us over there. Deathscythe's space-worthy. I dunno what makes up those sheilds, though, so I won't know if he can get us inside until we're there.

Maybe some of those other mechs could help out, too...

I would not know. That technology is also foreign to me.

[It seems familiar. I believe I have seen something similar on the 'tee vee' in the human world.]

['If it's a teleportation device, then…']

Wouldn't you need a second receiving unit?

[Yes, that would make sense. I did not think of that before.]

I do not know. I am not familiar with this technology.

I'm not all that familiar either, but I could at least have a look. And if I can't make sense of it, there's bound to be someone. [♪ It's got to be from this time.]

Thank you. Are you experienced with such things?
