[Strolls up nearby on the beach, dressed in military gear and armed with a semi-automatic.]

Yikes! Alright... [Backs away, watching the sand on the ground carefully, before leaning over to offer Duo a hand.]

Come on, time to get outta that stuff.

[Down to his knees, he shifted his weight and shimmied around to reach for that hand. Made him sink a little deeper but it was minuscule at best. He grabbed for the hand and made slow progress to tug himself free, just glad that his boots were water proof.] Yeah. [Alright. Got a grip. He pulled one leg free and moves closer to the side]

How the hell does something like this even happen?

[He leans backwards to help him pull free.]

[Tug. Tug. With a nice squishing slerky noise, the boy was hauled out of that muck.] Yeah.

[He makes it onto shore. The army guy again, huh?]

[the Doctor is also traipsing very carefully over the sand, sonic screwdriver in hand. there's a soft whirring sound from it coming from off-screen]

A pulse package! Think of it as an email made physical once it reaches its specific destination. It usually contains information that the sender didn't think was safe to relay over the Sphere Network, but in Captain Maris' terms, she was probably playing hard-to-get.

[hears that squelching noise and looks up in alarm] Don't panic. You'll sink in faster if you panic.

[Christ. Gross. He looked down at his feet. What. Again?] I know.

[He stilled himself, slowly moving backwards as he could, trying to make it as close to the dry land before trying to climb back out. Why did this happen to him, anyway?]

How... [Grunt] How many of these pulse packages are there?

[think that's gross? the Doctor squats down and, picking up a tiny bit of sand into his palm, and then licks it. and promptly makes a face] Yup, just what I thought, regular ol' silicon dioxide. [wipes his hand on his trousers] If it were anything else, I'd definitely be worried. [grins] You ought to be fine though! Even if there was a slight tang in the finish...nah, should be just fine!

[stands] As for how many, well... [sucks in a breath] There could be any number of them, really.
