[Oliver is leaning against a wall in the docking bay, most definitely not looking well. he's still in his spacesuit, his helmet held under his arm, and he's pale and sweaty and looks ready to fall over, very much showing how queasy he is after his mecha adventure. but even worse than seeming ill, his expression is terrified]

H-hey. [pauses

[Fortunately, Rukia's own loss of hearing hasn't hit her quite yet.]

From what I can tell, everyone is alright overall.

...You cannot hear? Are you injured?

[oliverplus]

[dismayed, he shakes his head as she speaks] Sorry, but...I really can't hear. [his tone betrays that he was hoping up until that moment]

[but now what? what he wouldn't give for a...wait!] Could you type through the sphere? Or maybe there's a setting. Like, closed captioning or something... It's got everything else... [grabs his sphere and starts to fiddle with it] Rukia, could you say something else?

[She frowns, trying to see if there are any outward injuries. She starts to head towards her room- she had been in the process of making sure everyone on board was properly buckled in when the dream came.]

Is something wrong with your sphere? I am able to hear you without difficulty.

[oliverplus]

Oh! Hey, it can caption! [is silent for a moment, reading the scrolling words at the bottom of her broadcast. frowns, shaking his head. makes eye contact again] It's not the sphere. I...I can't even hear myself. It's like I was fine and then...then it all went silent.

[hopeful] But if you can still hear, that's a good sign.

[Neil is sitting in Dynames, looking pretty queasy and rubbing at his neck.] That you, Ollie?

[He never did get a chance to help anyone else break out by the time he found some way to get out himself... but alas, loss of sight hit him hard and early.]

[oliverplus]

[frowns, shaking his head as Neil speaks] Neil, I can't hear you. [but watching him, he can definitely tell that something seems...off] Are you all right? Here, if I can get the sphere to write what you're saying... [fiddles with it]

...You can't? [it's probably obvious that something's not quite right as his line of sight is missing the Sphere by a few inches, until he leans back and closes his eyes]

Just feeling a bit sick and like I got tossed around like a pinball. [hesitates before continuing, very reluctant to admit the weakness he woke up with] And... er... never mind, it's not important.

[oliverplus]

[there is an awkward pause as Oliver reads what Neil said] Yeah, just...all of a sudden. I don't know what happened. [gives a wry smile at that description of their whale ride] I know what you mean.

[but as Neil continues, he frowns, focusing back on him] And what? Neil, what's wrong?

[Well, even though Manjoume can still see for now, Oliver not being able to hear isn't good. He's back in his own room, having returned to the ship when Menaeus had announced that the mechas would be taking over, so... yeah.]

Really? It smells like chocolate over here.

Are you all right?

[is fiddling with his sphere when Manjoume's transmission appears. he manages to get the closed captioning on just in time to see that last sentence. is quiet for a moment, watching it scroll by, before he makes eye contact with Manjoume] I think so. I just don't know what happened. But you can hear, right?

[He nods.] I can hear, yeah. But that you can't isn't good.

[there is another awkward pause as Oliver reads. smiles wanly] No, it's not, but it could be worse. At least it's just me. [starts making his way out of the docking bay, keeping a hand on the wall and looking unsteady]

[Sighs. Just when she was starting to feel better, finally getting some sleep and food in the prison, reality has to come back and start being a pain all over again. She's still out of sorts but she keeps herself steady, at least until she gets to the privacy of her own quarters.]

[She was on her way there too, departing the mecha before spotting Oliver and frowning. She makes her way over.] Oliver? [The frown deepens when he doesn't show any signs of hearing her and reaches out to touch his shoulder.] Hey.

[oliverplus]

[jumps when she touches him, spinning on her. he calms when he sees who it is, however] Lightning! Are you okay?

[big_sis_lcie]

[She moves her hand back but doesn't otherwise react to that spin. She's got her helmet in her other hand and is still wearing that suit.] I'm fine. What's wrong?

[oliverplus]

[well, that didn't look like a negative answer. nods, relieved. while he can't hear her next words, he can tell she asked a question and can guess from there] I...I can't hear anything. I don't know why.

[ypnotism]

[ in her hologram, she simply holds up a notebook that has I can't hear anything either!' with a big frowny face. ]

[oliverplus]

[frowns, worried] You too, Molly? [but of course, she can't hear him either. fiddles with his sphere again, trying to find the typing option]

Sphere has closed captioning. If you talk, I can read. Turn it on, you can read from other people.

[tries to give her a reassuring smile. see, it's not so bad! right?]

[ closed captioning--right. she can't talk, which is her problem. so she scribbles down I can't talk, Oliver. ]

[stares] Oh no...

[and, as he didn't see her adjust her sphere, types quickly]
