[The sphere comes on to find a white wolf snuffling around its new surroundings, paying little attention to the sphere. After all, it's not a threat, and she's seen it before, so it's the lowest priority unless it randomly decides to break again. After a moment, she glances up to sniff at it before oozing out the door of her assigned quarters and ( Read more... )

[Well, doesn't this look familiar, too. Maybe someone has brought a pet aboard, or a wolf has escaped from some kind of enclosed habitat, or-

...Maybe obfuscating stupidity is harder than it should be, when his heart is stuck in his throat, again. Yeah, that's probably it. He makes a sound, a surprised exclamation that isn't quite there yet, but otherwise remains a startled, silent viewer.

Pardon him. Recovering memories is an entirely new experience, and Abel is trying to decide whether or not he likes it.]

[It takes him a moment, but he puts an arm around her shoulders carefully. He really wanted to be happy to see her (even though it went against most of his better judgement, dredging up everything that had happened to them, before). But this was too much - literally.]

It's not your fault. Whatever's happening, maybe it's something wrong with me? I haven't felt right since I showed up here.

...This really isn't like the last time, is it?

[She shakes her head, but she's fairly certain it has something to do with her. Ever since she left the Crucible she'd been getting stronger, perhaps she'd reached a point where her powers had made it impossible to speak with the others? Just when she thought she could speak with them again, she had so much to say but it was like trying to speak with the Poncles. Only a few could hear her voice, but a part of her had a feeling that wouldn't be the case here.

This was awful. Heaving a sigh, she rests her head on his shoulder, her arms slipping around his waist. At least Abel still smelled as good as she remembered, and his hair was just as soft.]

[Another hug, however brief, with the arm still around her, before he pats her gently on the head. Ever since waking from his real life and back into this dream, he's felt a little off his game, but this is the first time Abel has felt something like that. It hurt, and not just because of the press of that invisible force.]

We'll still try to make the best of this, either way. Ah, are you hungry? I was going to get something to eat, and then, uh, I guess I was going to keep looking around.

I'm sure it would be more fun if you came with me.

[Her tail wags when he pats her head, even more when he mentions food. She huffs in agreement, her tail wagging as the subject change seems to perk her up. Well, she'd been without a voice for centuries, a little while more shouldn't hurt.

So she gave his chin an affectionate nip before standing, holding out her hand to help him up. Exploring this new ship would be more fun with him, now that she thought about it. Otherwise it just wouldn't be the same.]

[This prompts a weak but earnest laugh from him, a definite improvement.]

I had a feeling.

[He tries to disguise the faint tinge of embarrassed red that creeps across his expression as he takes the hand up, rubbing at his face with the other. He pauses only to turn back and retrieve his wayward sphere.]

Lunch is first priority, then, I imagine? Or whichever mealtime it is, out here in the middle of nowhere.

[She shrugs, not caring either way. She couldn't quite keep track of time whenever she was pulled from one place to another like this. Oddly enough it stopped bothering her after the first few times, so she trots after him with her tail waving and reaches up to fix his hair. It wasn't much, but with the way his hair misbehaved it was sometimes distracting, and she could at least give it less reasons to curl like it did. When she was finished, she tugs his clothes back into place, smoothing the fabric out with care. Huffing softly when she's through, she smiles up at Abel and cocks her head for them to go.]

[The attention doesn't do anything to help with his flustered appearance, but he bears it with a deeply familiar patience. That's a kind of passing gesture that he only sees this rarely, and it almost reasserts the surreality of their situation.]

Oh, ah, thank you.

[He takes the cue and starts off in the direction he was originally headed before that whole vicious wolf assault debacle took place, trying to think up some sort of one-sided conversation to have.]

You know, before today, I'd almost managed to convince myself that everything that happened was just a dream.

[She cocked her head at him, lips quirked and eyebrows arched as it to say 'really, Abel?' Not that she could really chide him for it, as the memories had faded for her as well on her return to Nippon. But perhaps it was her own experiences that had kept her believing somewhere deep in her heart that they were more than that.

And it was not a vicious wolf assault, such a melodramatic. Really, she could do and had done far worse, he had somehow managed to miss her being truly vicious in any sense. But he was welcome anyway, and she rubbed her forehead against his arm as they walked.]

Ah, hey, don't give me that look! When I got home, it wasn't to very good news. And it did get a little harder to tell when I couldn't go more than a single night without having some persistent white wolf visit me in my actual dreams.

[This last bit may or may not be mere teasing; he's got that ambiguous mask back in place, though it's set to a pleasant tone, for now.]

Anyway, you didn't let me finish. I was going to say that I'm glad I couldn't do something so stupid, in the end.

I've done some pretty awful things - like stealing pastries from the kitchen before dinner- That one still weighs on my conscience terribly. But forgetting Ammy would have to top the list.

[She laughs softly, her tail wagging. Thankfully that didn't set off her sphere into its horrible static bursts. Even if he was just teasing it pleased her, filling her with a pleasant warmth. This was nice.]
