So I figured out my whole screen capture debacle.

Command-Shift-3

View the video at full screen and then click Command-Shift-3

Beautiful! Figures it was something simple.

I knew my iMac wouldn't let me down. <3

Cmd+Shift+4 gives you selection capability. You can select the portion of the screen you want to capture. I use it a lot.
