I'm sick to death of hearing about the whole Chick-Fil-A debacle going on right now. And I think what makes me even more irritated about this is that people are shocked at Chick Fil A's stance. It never fails to amaze me how people have no regard for freedom of speech when it's so obvious and scream about it being needed when it's a case of something NOT being covered by it. Don't like the stance of the owner? Don't eat there. End of story. For a mayor of a major city to tell the company not to come? That's someone throwing his weight around where it doesn't belong. And the people who are backing this mayor are probably also out there bashing Bloomberg for wanting to put a cap on soda consumption in NYC. And the sad thing is that those people would never see the contradiction ( ... )

I think it's because people can't handle the bigger issues, so they cling to these sort of issues. And true, they are probably contradicting all kinds of issues with this one.

And people quite often do find themselves agreeing with the whole 'freedom of speech' concept when the said speech is something they agree with. Not so much when it's something they don't agree with.

I'm not surprised by it. We're hearing a lot down here in Georgia since Chick-fil-A is everywhere here. I read in the AJC (Atlanta Journal-Constitution) today that a new one is opening in CA and there is supposed to be a protest with same-sex couples kissing. I'm for anything that pisses off the homophobes. :D

I bet it is all over the place in Georgia. I'm all for peaceful protesting I suppose, but there are so much more important things to be angry about. That's just me I guess.
