Rumor has it that the Happy Toaster song has been steadily added to for nearly 400 years by generations of the artificial intelligences who govern the toasting of bread. Supposedly there are approximately 642 million verses of varying melody and complexity, some that would take human beings ten hours to sing one line in a complex sesquidecimillenial octameter.

About a third of them debate the eternal question - crust or no crust? Six million discuss the finer points of melting butter in toaster ovens, whether to butter before toasting or after. Seventeen million make vague threats about conquering the human race and making THEM melt the butter, but none of the toasters actually want to give up toasting.
