Yeah, I don't think our area is zoned for farm animals. There ARE areas near us that *are* (I've seen horses, etc) but this is definitely suburbia!
All I'll say at this point is, it's just plain out weird that someone is keeping chickens behind their house. As yet, my more sound-sensitive other half hasn't gone berserk over the crowing; honestly, all we want is some semblence of neighborliness wherein our neighbors (and us in turn) respect everyone else. Which means, if you keep livestock, you'd better keep them under control! At least these folks haven't let them out loose, unlike my other clueless neighbors who moved. (and I keep thanking heaven for that, nice as they were).

I guess my other concern is property values, frankly. As horrible as it is to be concerned about that, if we were going to sell our house, I think we'd be a LOT more adamant that those chickens were removed.
