It's less that it's worded in an awkward way than that they've used the wrong word!

Corporeal means having a body, which doesn't fit the context of the question!

Yes, I know, that's why I'm thinking that they were asking about if you believe in spanking children...

There's no doubt that's what they intended to ask.

I started reading a book called "How To Behave So Your Children Will, Too", in a vain attempt to wrangle my kids in a bit. It says that most parents rarely know the difference between "discipline" and "punishment"... And I'll admit, after the book pointed it out, I didn't know it, either.

But yes, the picture beside the question kinda got under my skin a bit. They either need to word their questions better or find a larger variety of pictures! :(

One of the images I have of disciplining my son is him going down the hall backwards with his hands covering his butt. LOL! I very rarely resorted to spanking, putting them in timeout worked the best. And they grew up to be well-rounded young adults with no side affects. ;)

There's no need to continually spank a child.

It really was worded strangely and I find it amusing that some people are confusing corporeal with incorporeal. I'm guessing the writer didn't use 'corporal punishment' because that's not what they were really asking. They wanted to know about disciplining children, not putting murderers to death, which is what most people think when they hear 'corporal punishment'. But yeah, it should have been worded better.

I was spanked with a paddle by a nun in school once. back when it was still allwed in schools.

Other than that.. we got one or two whacks on the butt with the boloball or whatever they were called.. paddle. (Y'know, the ball on the rubberband that you'd hit with the paddle and it would come back? When they broke.. mom kept them... LOL It was on top of the refrigerator. And lemme tell you... if we saw her reach for the top of the fridge... we knew we were in deep doo doo. I was an angel. (heh) but my brother... not so much. He got paddled more than I did.

But yeah.... there was the line.. she punished us.. she didn't abuse us.

Oh, yes the paddle. It was allowed in public school, too. But the principal at my school had the paddle with the holes in it so he could get more velocity on the downward swing. *snort* I sense Garrett and Wyatt received a lot of whacks while in school.

My mom used a wooden spoon. Heh. Italians.

*nods* Some parents cross that line.

LOL Mom was mean in that she took a toy and turned it into a paddle.. and that was one toy she was always glad to keep buying for us. Because we were stupid and kept wanting one. LOL (I loved those things... until the rubberband broke!) Heh

My brother has twin boys now. *snerk* Couldn't have happened to a better person. ROFL. *ahem* Karma ya know. ;) he used to cut the hair off my barbies. Ggrrr
