Another movie trailer

May 31, 2009 09:27

amedia's post reminded me of this.

This time, it's Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes. Now, I have to admit, I do have a problem with American actors playing iconic British roles. I guess it goes back to Kevin Costner playing Robin Hood (*shudders at the memory*). I shall reserve judgment until the movie comes out, but it looks entertaining enough. I ( Read more... )

Yeah, it's never a good sign.
It really isn't. There are just some things that are sacred when it comes to bringing famous literary characters to life whether they're Amercian or British.

And the Doctor should NEVER be played by an American. Just thought I'd add that in. ;)

I'd rather not ever even think that, thank you very much.

Sorry about that. *sends Native American dreamcatcher*
*I added a link just in case*

I had nightmares after the movie. The only bright spot was Paul McGann. *swoons*

I'm with you here... of course, I liked RH

I'm more interested in the Sherman Brothers documentary and Post Grad... Oh my life... *sigh*

Though, I can't say I'd advertise Alexis Blidel as the star of Sisterhood.... But I guess it must have been more popular that Gilmore Girls..

*goes to watch Princess the the Frog trailer*
*sends Excedrin*

I'm probably going to have a 'duh' moment here, but who is RH?

I haven't watched the trailer for Post Grad.

Thanks. I hate having migraines, it always takes me a few days to recover.

I wrote about two pages last night of the reunion - whoa - talk about an emotional roller coaster.
*hugs Garrett and Rebecca*

See, I told you, 'duh' moment. *gigglesnort*

While you did inspire me to write, this did not help. The scene during Warrick's funeral doesn't help either.

I have to admit, I'm not impressed by Academy Awards. Most times, I hadn't seen the movie or it's one that I have no interest in seeing. I can't even tell you who won last year.

I'm not talking strictly about accents, although most times what we think is a good British accent is actually way off. Now, I'm not saying that that is the case with Downey in Chaplin as I did not see the movie.

What I'm talking about is taking an iconic British character and Americanizing it (that's why I used the Doctor Who movie as an example in one of my replies).

For me, there are just some things that should not be touched. I would feel the same way if a British production team did Tom Sawyer. Even Doctor Who messed up American characters and life in the states.

Like I said, that's just my opinion.
