Burning question...

I've been saving the ends of candles for a while, and I (just recently) figured out that I could make a layered candle and thereby dispense with all the problems I was imagining about various colors and scents. But I haven't figured out what to use for a wick yet. Is there some string that works well? A (common) household object? I dunno, rafia ( Read more... )

I've always bought wicking. Nothing else burns quite right. However, you can save cash by buying unwaxed wicking and waxing it yourself (just a layer or two of wax before it goes in the candle will help it burn much better).

I've done that before and purchased wicking for it before. I don't know if anything else would work right.
