Unfortunately, the bullies have taken to the comment section, sometimes artificially raising messages like "If you are suffering, suicide is a valid option!" along with the normal "go to hell" comments.
I worry that a suffering teen may go to the video looking for hope and find once again how hateful, hostile, and homophobic the world can be.

It's true, some of the comments are horribly homophobic and bullying, but this is always going to happen on YouTube. I'm hoping that after watching the video, people will read the comments and realise the bigots have been given the opportunity to show the world just how stupid they are. Way to shoot themselves in the foot.
It's scary, isn't it? Precisely why Joel Burns message needs to reach as many people as possible. Two of the young men he mentions in the video are also mentioned in this article.
