Locked To Joe

After Jordan left his room Garret went looking for Joe. He didn't anticipate the man was going to like Woody coming out and talking to Jordan, but Garret was fairly sure he could convince him without telling him about Woody leaving town. Joe was enjoying the smell of the air and the feeling of the cool night when he heard Garret's voice. He turned around and smiled at the man. "Sure thing, Dr. Macy. Whatever you need."

"Woody is coming out here on Friday and he wants to talk to Jordan alone. I want you to agree to stay out of the way until he leaves." Garret drew in a deep breath. "I'm asking you to trust me on this and not ask why, just suffice it to say, closure is something they both need even if they don't see it."

A wave of guilt followed by anger washed through Joe. Of course he'd heard that Woody had resigned, department gossip spread likes wildfire. He hadn't told Jordan because he didn't think it was his place but rather something Woody should explain to her himself. It felt terrible to keep something from Jordan but this was Woody's thing. But why did he need to come see her to tell her? Why wouldn't an email suffice or a phone call suffice? Joe snapped the comb in his hands in half. He realised that he hadn't said anything for a few seconds and just looked at Garret. "I think I'm gonna need an antacid for this one," Joe grumbled.

I'm out in a few minutes til later this evening. I might get one more tag in before I leave and then the rest later.

"I know the feeling, but I know Jordan well enough to know, she is going to need this." Garret stopped for a moment. "You already know why, don't you?"
