I have them and mine are caused by anxiety disorder and sometimes I have them several times a day. (even if i'm not having a panic attack) It feels like a fluttering and it even makes my breathing feel like it's quivering and sometimes taken away. Most arrhythmias are harmless and not life threatening. They're just annoying. I had to wear a holter monitor for 24 hours a few years back just to be sure though. I'd recommend you get a check up if it happens again.
A little trick I learned to stop the long spells of palpitations is to cough really hard and if that doesn't work holding my breath and kind of 'bearing down' or tightening my chest to give my heart a good squeeze usually works. (wish i would have been online at the time to tell you that) :(

We don't want it being something serious.
So long as it doesn't feel like a crushing or squeezing sensation, then we're good. If anything like that happens, call 911!
