Older, But No Wiser

*waves tiredly* Hi. I've been MIA (or perhaps POW, after you hear my Tale of Woe) from LJ for just about two months now. A lot can happen in two months. Life, as Stephen King has pointed out, turns on a dime. And, while I have not been harassed by evil clowns, eaten by an elegant Victorian mansion, or engaged in an ages long search for a Dark Tower ( Read more... )

*hugs* I hate everything goes to the suckups! Keep fighting and I wish you the best , nothing comes easy and everything changes and be paranoid because I think that is our natural defense. I started recording every conversation in my work after a nurse fired my good friend/ coworker for following guideline and now the state board is threatening her license.

Thank you so much, sorot. It sounds like you're putting up a pretty brave fight yourself, and it makes me braver to know I am in good company. It's amazing how innocent, hardworking people can get caught in these horrible snares, where people in power use the very g-ddamn rules against them. For all the protections supposedly in place for workers, I have learned that a great many of them are just lip service.

You're right-- nothing comes easy. You hang in there too, okay?

*HUGS*
wow, that was a lot to go through - and that really sounds as if you have a case, I hope you get surprised and win! (reading this I thought this song would be appropriate:P https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j40OFzZF6cM)

Oh, wow-- that's beautiful. I had no idea John Barrowman could sing! It's amazingly appropriate and, of course, it makes me think of Jack/Ianto, too. ;-)

I'm encouraged by the very fact the EEOC has accepted the complaint, but there are a lot of protections out there for big corporations which, legally, are considered 'people too.' (*frowns* Pretty sure that makes no sense, myself.) Maybe I will be surprised. On the other hand, I will still be satisfied if I shake the tree a little and some snakes fall out. For all the friends in high places you can make, if you make the wrong misstep they can all disappear overnight.

oh, just google John Barrowman Albums (he's also got two concert DVDs out... and there is lots on youtube as well ) He was a West End Star before he came to Doctor Who

yeah, I've read that about corporations being people and it doesn't make sense to me either and good to hear that you've at least got somewhere already

*hugs* What an awful ordeal! And yes, even if there's no chance of winning you'll feel better if you stand up for yourself and keep fighting. At least you'll know you did everything you could. You didn't deserve the way you were treated, I wish I could do more than just send virtual hugs and support. Good luck with everything! *more hugs*

Your support and virtual hugs help a lot, believe me. *hugs back* You're absolutely right-- it's a long, involved and mostly boring process, but I feel better about myself knowing I am using all the agency and self-advocation I can. <3

Even if it's not ruled in your favour (it should be, but we all know what big corporations are like), you will have stood up for your rights instead of laying down and letting them trample over you. They can't take that away from you! I'm in your corner, just on the other side of the world. Good luck! ♥

Random thought: How amazing is the internet when you can talk to people on the other side of the world without leaving your room?

*hugs*

Thank you. <3 I may not be so much 'tough' and 'resilient' as I am an unmitigated bitch-- but the results are much the same, anyway. ^_~ I'm in a good place, all things considered. At least temping allows me to look for a permanent job without having to take the first thing out of sheer desperation. It is definitely not easy-going in the job market right now. X_x;;

<3 <3 <3 You've done the same for me.

I have managed to curb the majority of my self-destructive anger outlets, and I haven't had to go off my meds. I am still clean and sober, despite the significant stressors. I have a job again, and thus feel like a worthwhile human being.

Can I just say, you are a ROCKSTAR.
