Why doesn't my family get that I use the internet to avoid talking to them?

THIS. That's why I left Facebook initially. I mean, wtaf. And you know they're not adding you to leave cutesy notes on your wall. They are purposely imposing themselves into as many aspects of your life possible to make sure you're their perfect little girl. Bah.

I didn't realize you could edit your privacy settings that much. Woah. Good luck keeping all of that straight.

It's actually pretty easy (you can privatize against specific people, which is awesome- so my parents can't see my wall, for example), except with pictures (still easy, but time consuming). I've got like, a gazillion albums up because I was involved in this whole study abroad trip to India two years ago that spawned so many pictures it's ridiculous, on top of all my normal being a college kid pics, and somehow I...never really got around to telling my family I have a boyfriend? Who was on the trip with me? Who was the only male on the whole trip? Yeahhhh...So my mom's seen a lot of pictures of me and this guy, but I had to run through and weed out all the super-coupley (kissing in monsoons) ones, and then anything where I look too wasted/am smoking hookah because she'd kill me

Totally understandable. My parents aren't chill, but I get not wanting to disappoint.

It was pretty much the awesomest thing ever, and kind of like a big vacation with all my friends, because we all convinced each other to go and since India isn't a popular study abroad spot,we all got into the program. Plus because it was a summer thing, it wasn't like normal study abroad- we had two teachers from our university come with us and take us on field trips every day. So essentially it was a month and a half long school trip!

Prime example of why I had to customize it so my parents couldn't see my wall: I wrote that I just freed up 30g of space on my harddrive and one of my best friends wrote back that I finally got rid of all that horse porn. My friends are idiots.
