...Hm.

Some time ago - about a month or two after I arrived here - I encountered several spirits from some recent murders that had been going on at that time. Scientists and some security guards. But it was...strange. None of them had a Chain of Fate.

I didn't perform konso - in all honesty I still have no idea what might happen. As there is no Soul Society for them to go to now...

In addition to that, souls in general here seem to have different qualities attributing to, perhaps, their worlds. ...Would you happen to know a young man by the name of Luke fon Fabre?

...I see. I was thinking along the same lines; there's no way of knowing what affect, if any, that would have on them.

And I've heard the name, although I've never met him.

Mm. Well, he died...a few months back. He was murdered. It triggered a good deal of uproar in the ship. He had been good friends with several people I knew here, so I tried to see if I could track down his spirit and speak with him, identify his murderer. After such a violent and sudden death as that...it was almost inevitable that he was probably still lingering, I thought.

However, his companions informed me that there would be no spirit to be found, as it is...destroyed as soon as one dies, according to them. Although, they did not know if this was an anomaly common to their own world.

That point still remains, however - it has occured to me, after thinking about it for some time, that all these worlds may well have inhabitants whose souls are extremely different from the kind we are familiar with.

Which...extends the possibilities to a rather endless amount...

...I see. But there have been other spirits here on the ship--you've seen them, and I've seen a couple as well. I suppose it really does vary based on world of origin.

So, as Kira said, there's no guarantee that he'd even turn into the type of spirit we're familiar with.

Something needs to be done about him before it gets that far. Allowing him to become an arrancar is unacceptable, regardless of his intentions.

What is he, exactly?

...Oh, and I haven't run into any spirits yet, but if I do, I will let you know.

If you managed to catch any of the recent commotion about homunculi killing and eating people, he was the force behind it all. He transformed people into creatures who ate humans, and sent them out to attack those he saw as a threat. One of his creatures was made from Kurosaki Ichigo's genetic material spliced with that of a dragon. So we can safely assume his intentions as a Hollow of any kind would be malicious.

Chouno is human enough, but he's dying from a terminal illness, and he learned enough about Soul Society from Ichigo to look into whether or not he could survive as a spirit. He claims he's determined that he can.

Why would he want that? He still wouldn't be alive and he must know that we would have to do something about it if he did become a hollow, or worse, an arrancar.

And since he's not even from our world, there's no guarantee that he would even become a spirit, unless he's figured a way around that.

He wants attention. He wants validation, to know that his existence has meaning and made some sort of mark. He doesn't want to disappear without having mattered.

If you can stomach it, I suggest you read his entire entry to get an idea what we're dealing with here.

I've had no cause to perform konsou, though what Ukitake-san says about there being multiple possibilities for the destination of souls after death is certainly food for thought.

As for our friend Koushaku-san, I have no concern about him being around long enough to become either Hollow or Arrancar when he kicks the bucket. I am, however, much more concerned about this.

Maybe I'll talk to the next spirit I see and find out where they thought they'd be after death.

[Her face twists up in disgust as she reads]

Oh, for fuck's sake.

My sentiments exactly.

I'd like to think that even Gin would lose patience with all his whining, but with our luck he'll find him entertaining or useful enough to keep around.
