It's a holiday, celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, the Lord and savior in Christianity.

However, most people treat it as a holiday to spend time with family and friends, as well as exchange gifts.

Oh, I was aware of it the whole time. It's just that the 24th had seemed to of crept up on us so quickly without me realizing it.
