What do you expect us to do? We can't compel those we protect to inform themselves. All we can do is try to be as accommodating as possible. This gala is one venue for that. In a festive setting where one is free of occupational constraints, it's far easier to casually converse and learn.

I see your point; in that way, it's a good idea. But what about the dangers of having a large crowd in an enclosed space when things have been difficult lately?

Security check at the door consists of metal detectors, x-ray and a pat-down machine on loan from the police force. We've also made it clear that weapons will not be allowed inside the ballroom without a proper permit. Surveillance will be in full force though we'll be as unobtrusive as possible.
