If you don't mind me asking, how many were you able to bring from your world with you? [This is a very relative question, and he only realizes this a few seconds after asking.]

Trainers are only allowed to carry up to six Pokemon with them at any time, so that's how many came with me. We do have access to our storage system somehow, though.

Storage systems?

In our world, once you capture more than six Pokemon, the pokeballs are stored in PC boxes, which you can access from any Pokemon Center. It's rather convenient, actually!

[He thinks about that for a moment. Animals- already put in the tiny balls was something in and of itself. Was it a stretch to really go so far as to store them? Nah. Not really.]

I think I've been meaning to ask this for a while now. Just how many pokemon are there?

[battledancing]

[Pokemon world is full of ~magic~ like that.]

There are over six hundred different kinds of Pokemon known so far, though we keep discovering more and more species every day!

[Blink blink. Trying to relate this. ...well, there are tons of normal animals (relatively, again, speaking). And if he lines it up against Duel Monsters even, there are tons and tons of cards. So ... somehow it makes sense and he eventually just nods. Sure.]

I have been interested in this for a while. [A pause for thought. Ah right.] My name is Atem.

I'll make sure to remember that name, Atem! I'm Cynthia, by the way, and these-- [She motions towards her chaotic babies again.] --are my Pokemon.

Cynthia. [The name is acknowledged and put to memory with another nod. And then he glances at them.]

What are their names?

[battledancing]

[And soon as Atem asks for names, Togekiss hops forward and waves at the camera, demanding priority.]

Well, this one here is Togekiss, a Flying/Normal type Pokemon. He's very pleased to meet you, too!

[note_atem]

[He smiles.] Togekiss.

[A thought.] I believe Whitney said there were 17 different types? But hearing that I'm only now realizing some can be combined. [He thought it was straight 17, no room for mix. THIS IS ALL VERY COOL TO HIM YOU SEE.]

Toge-to! [Togekiss waves again, preening a little.]

Ah, that's right-- there are 17 different types of Pokemon, but that doesn't mean all Pokemon will be a single type! For instance, Rock/Ground is a pretty common combination, as well as Poison/Grass!

Is it possible there's a place on the ship where I could look up all these different pokemon?

[battledancing]

Well... I've heard the Guide has encyclopedias on a variety of worlds out there, but I never looked for any Pokemon-related information, myself. It's possible one of the trainers has a Pokedex with them, though!

Is that exactly what it sounds like? [A light grin.]

A Pokemon index, yes. It's much like a digital encyclopedia on Pokemon that was developed by a group of researchers from our world.
