Pull the child away from the lioness as it is likely bothering the lioness.

They should be.
Beasts only attack those who they deem a threat. In all likelihood, the lioness wasn't actually going to eat the child.

It wouldn't have been possible, with how things were set up. The lack of reaction from parents was a little weird to me on the other hand.

Incapacitate the animal if the threat looks genuine and protect the child.

Report the unusual behavior to whomever is in charge of the animal's enclosure. Even if there is no real threat such behavior should not be encouraged.
