[ Kid has the job of washing windows this month, and while he's been doing an excellent job -- each completed window shines and sparkles without the hint of smudge -- it also takes him a long, long time to get it right to his satisfaction. So much so that temporary employer has stepped in, and the Guide picks up some of that conversation. ]

Then while we work, we should talk about other things. What is your job for the month?

I am a gardener for a shrine. Work is... interesting. I never expected it to be so violent.

[ Scrubbing hard at a spot on his window. Go away, smudge. ]

I am also signed up for primary school.

What of you? Are you attending school in addition to your job this month?

[grimreaping]

What kind of shrine? And why would it be violent?

[ curiously, though it drops off when Larsa mentions school ]

I've no plans to. I think it would be too different from the DMWA for me to enjoy.

I am unsure. It seems to be frequented by many a magical person, though... and it is one of my co-workers who is violent. She injured our employer with no remorse.

[ But school is wonderful~! ]

I am unsure, but it may have been because she was too powerful for any law enforcement.

Then it is a military academy?

There seems to be a lot of people who consider themselves outside orderly laws. [ and he sounds seriously displeased ]

Hm, that's not an incorrect analogy for it. It's very specialized, though.

I agree. [ If he could do something about it, he would. ]

May I ask the details of its specialization or are they private?

If you have no objections, perhaps I could accompany you to this job for a day, and see this person for myself.

They're not private, but I suspect they're unique to the world I'm from, and therefore may or may not be likened to anything you're familiar with.

I've no objections, though I do not believe it is worth your time.

[ Childish smile as he focuses on another smudge. ]

My sword training has been minimal; it is enough to survive in my world. That being said, there are many things from my own world I am unfamiliar with, let alone the world of another.

If it'd assist you in any way, I can't think of anything more worthy.

[ consideringly: ] Do you practice?

I do not want you to be injured because of it...!

A little. My performance needs quite a lot of work, however.

You needn't worry about that.

Perhaps then, in exchange for intruding on you at your job, I can assist you with that.

[ He doesn't say anything in response to the first part. Either way, he'll worry. It's what he does. If Kid were wounded because of -him- he'd feel horrible. ]

You have more important matters to attend to, do you not? And as it stands, I am the one intruding on you at your job.

I need this place to be safe. If this is where the people who've survived my world, and others, are brought... then this ship needs to be made safe by whatever means.
