Win or lose, it's how you play the game. ◌ Accidental Video ◌ 006

[The Guide starts filming, showing the brightly coloured lobby of a laser tag arena. Irene is looking up to something off-screen intently, then frowns slightly. She is reading the score from the last round, and the result is not as favourable as she could have liked. All the same, she turns to America with a smile.]

Tied again, dear. Another round?

[He hadn't been expecting the music. But it's not the first time he's had to deal with a distraction in a fight (or a facsimile thereof). Nor does the dimness really bother him. His lone eye is used to peering through deeper darkness than this, although he does stop for a brief moment to pull his hood up over his head before slinking off to a spot on the lower floor that looks to have a decent vantage point on the rest of the room.]

[Xigbar's black coat was certainly the perfect camouflage in this maze of black walls. She might not see him until she was practically on top of him.

Contemplating how assertive to be, she decided to wait a while and see if he would make the first move.]

[If he's going to, he certainly doesn't do so immediately. Instead, he takes a good long moment to get a feel for the layout of the place: the vantage points and the hiding places and places where someone might set a trap, if they wanted. Only after he's done with all that does he actually move, taking care to go with a patient slowness that will hopefully minimize any glints of motion she might catch.]

[Feeling that she's waited quite long enough, Irene moves out from her alcove to seek Xigbar out. Or perhaps more precisely, to draw him out. Once she knows where he is, it will be much easier for her.

Keeping a sharp eye out, she works her way around the inner perimeter of the second level, glancing to the lower arena. It would be best if she could catch him from above.]

[For now, at least, Xigbar's keeping from totally breaking the game in half. Still, for all that can be seen it looks very much like he's vanished. No movement, nothing that stands out against the black, but he's there somewhere.

After a moment long, he takes a shot. If it goes wide, so be it, but it ought to give an idea of where he is.]

[She frowned vexedly - she knew he'd be good, but this was... ridiculous quite exceptional.

The silence had gone on so long she was starting to wonder if he'd even entered the arena when a beam of light shot past her nose. Although startled she still reacted quickly, taking a shot back at where that shot had come from. She couldn't see anything over there, but at least she now knew where he was, and could head over that way.]

[Xigbar takes a quick step back just in time to avoid the shot. He's getting a feel for things, and it's not long at all before he pops back out to take another shot - this one a bit more on the mark.]

[Her gun made the sound to indicate a hit, and although she gave a vexed 'tisk', Irene did not break stride, and indeed moved faster while she had the ten seconds of invincibility. She had to catch him before he moved far from where he'd taken the shot from.]
