Well... I spent years training for it, then... I was in the tournament for about six months before I joined the GDF in favor of finishing... And that was about a year.

I guess technically, a year and a half?

Oh, no, it's not like that. The tournament is to determine which colony rules over the others. Like... the presidential election ages ago.

Each colony makes a Gundam and the tournament is fought on Earth. Things got out of hand this time around and we ended up having to do something completely different.

That sounds like the least stable form of government I've ever heard of. How often does this happen? [It's no surprise it didn't work. It sounds so incredibly stupid, he's not sure how anyone would agree to that sort of system. Less bloodshed over all, but for things to change in such a manner . . . it doesn't reflect the people or the culture it's governing at all.]

It's amazing that this system worked at all, let alone in four-year flashes. A government doesn't even have time to lay down it's ground work in that sort of system.

But if you've been chosen to represent your government in the fight, you must be good, relatively speaking.

Well... I wasn't rea... It's not a...

I was the only candidate. I didn't fight "for" my government. I just had to.

But if you ask me, it sounded like you're challenging me to a spar? There's still some things about it that haven't been worked out, but, it's just added on from the last model.
