Fanfiction is just what it sounds like: you write fiction about something you're a fan of. Usually badly.

And I guess it's pretty cool. I've met angels, demons, devils, robots, trolls, and all sorts of weird aliens.

No, it kinda has to be about a tv show, or movie, or book you like--anything with an established storyline and characters you can add on to. Like... if you read a book about a monkey who found a hat, you could write a fanfiction about that monkey later finding a sword.
