I kind of like working with my hands. You know for sure when you're done, so you can look back at it and nod and think 'I'm done.'

[Oh and did I mention he has Fennec fox ears poking out of hair? Well he does.]

Hmm, yes, I see your point. I was born into a noble family, so I never had to do this kind of work, but I suppose it can be enjoyable in its own way.

[Blinks when she sees the ears.] Oh? Have you become a kitsune all of a sudden, Matthew?

Mmm, I was too, but I spent most days digging anyway. I like digging. I guess it's not the doing it, it's what you have when you're done.

[The ears twitch a few times-yup, they're real.] Oh, no Princess. I'm just practicing turning into a fox. I'm starting to think I don't have any talent for transformation magic at all. [And look, his tail has just come into view, swishing around a bit.] I can only get bits and pieces done.

Hmm, I see. Well, bits and pieces are better than nothing.

Still, some creatures who transform can't do it completely either. Sometimes there will be a few telltale signs.

I'm on the ship. Yes, it is rather odd, isn't it? But then again, so is everything else here.

I didn't think I would either, but it's surprisingly easy. You just have to brush around inside the chimney to keep it clean.

Still, that's what comes to mind when I think of "real" work. Getting messy in some way almost seems required, otherwise it doesn't look like a "real" job in my mind.
