[Despite whatever fairy tales might say about princesses and sleep, Natalia actually sleeps pretty deeply. She didn't wake at the sudden change of location, just shivered a little and snugged closer to the nearby source of warmth.]

[If the chill in the room had receded, Asch didn't take notice. He'd stayed up late worrying over one of the music box movements until he'd become so drowsy that he'd retired to bed. His dreams had remained pleasant for once, so he slept peacefully and without waking.]

[You know how dreams always end right when you least want them to?]

[In sleep the sun is rising on happier times. A young Asch is reaching for someone's hand. Only he never quite manages to reach it. Instead Asch hears a sound from far off, like a breath of wind, and then the dream is gone. He shifts to find a more comfortable position, but it's too late for sleep. There's work to be done.]

[Asch's eyelids open and slowly adjust to the dim light.]
