Thank you!
I'll take that as a warning to stay away from Laurie R. King's books. (WAY away!)
And congratulations on surviving another July/August of prompt fic writing!

People keep telling me they're good books, but I can't get over that godawful first couple of chapters that feel like they're written by the most breathless 13-year-old Mary Sue wanna-be in Sherlock Holmes fandom - and it commits the mortal sin of making John Watson a portly dimbulb extra on the sideline. ...I feel better now that some of the other responses have been by people who've read more of the series and confirmed that yes, the stories stay this insufferably Mary-Sue throughout.

My own heartiest contrafibularities to yourself for accomplishing the same feat!

That was hilarious. I'm so glad she met a fate she deserved.

Honestaghod, it's like Laurie King didn't realize she was reinventing Mary Sue - and in a way you'd expect from some 13-year-old.

Die, Mary Sue, Die! John Watson's the only one who gets to taste the honey in THIS hive!

I do not suffer Mary-Sue intrusions on my fandoms (still less Mary-Sues that get PAID for their 13-year-old gushing).
