If there's any Castor and Pollux twincest out there, I hope those boys saw it. I may have most of Heinlein's books, but I'm also a fan of the very quotable Mae West, and in her words, "anyone who's that easily shocked needs to be shocked more often." (But then, I wrote Jesus/Judas once, with pretty much the same intention.)
And on the subject of shock... how did Pournelle take that? I can't imagine very well...!

What I remember from those days was the recurring unspoken message by "conventional" fan(boy)s that of course media fanfic was worthless, because it was written by women. (And God forbid you delve into non-conventional pairings to suit your own perspective - such as Spock/Uhura stories written decades before Reboot!Trek, often by fangirls of color surrounded by 98% white source material, and receiving the same blustering resistance from white K/S fangirls that we all got from the fanboys ( ... )

And the art-show rules pretty much follow pop culture rules: If women like it, it's Weird and Unconventional. If dudes like it, it's Mainstream. (Rape scenes galore in R-rated movies - but if the woman *likes* the sex, it's now porn.)
