Beautiful story. Holmes's advancing physical decrepitude is extremely effective--especially the image of him using two walking sticks--and it's a lovely counterpoint to Watson's mental anguish.

Holmes certainly won't let an icy rainstorm or an arthritic hip stop him from doing what he can to help Watson - even if it's just coming down with the same bout of pneumonia.

Hugh Grant is tolerable in this movie, but look to the minor role played by Ian Hart.
