Wow! Each one of these is a gem. I laughed hardest at The Valley of Fear and I the last time I had read contempt that strong was when you went after Laurie R. King. Brava!

Hee, hee. I like the Mark Twain line. And of course I agree with Scarlet and the Valley of Fear and the BBC version. And because of comment above I had to google who Laurie King was. I can only imagine...

VALL does have that lovely bedroom discussion of not fearing to share one's bed room with a madman, but other than that it's a short-story case stapled onto another of Doyle's ripping yarns of life in America.
