Vegetable advice

Hello

I'm looking for a little advice on what vegetables I might plant now-ish that might grow through the winter to be ready for spring. My veg patch has done really well this summer but is now winding down, but I don't want to just leave it to the weeds between October and April.

Have you considered a cover crop like red clover? You could try kale or broccoli or another 'winter' crop but if you do, be sure to really load up on the fertilizer come springtime. I made the mistake of growing a summer and winter crop in one plot and even with super fertilizing, the soil was pretty exhausted by the following spring and I ended up having to leave it fallow for a year to recuperate.
