Blueberry bushes definitely need pruning. The growers I work with prune as early as November or as late as February. But I'm down in zone 8'ish and blossoming is occurring.
Just give the roses some more time. I don't think there is anything you can do to hurry them along. If you're zone 3 or 4, they should be just coming out. I'm zone 4 but had a warm winter, and mine are just now expanding their buds.
Thanks... I wasn't sure if the eager ones were early or the sleepy ones late! This is my first year of growing roses... well first year for lots of things!
Roses are kin to apples, and some apples bud and bloom earlier than others. I have some roses that are evergreen here in Zone 7, but most of them take a rest. The resting ones break dormancy on their own individual schedules. In addition to individual plant habits, the locations where roses are planted make a difference in when they leaf out it spring. Generally, roses on a south bank will bud before roses on a north bank. Roses in sheltered spots may emerge before roses in exposed spots.
Good luck with your roses. I know that they will be beautiful.
